On behalf of our colleagues at Reformed Journal Books, we are celebrating an upcoming book award that was announced this week!

We are especially proud of honors that come from peers in professional media, which is the case with the honors annually bestowed by the nearly century-old Religion Communicators Council. Book prizes are announced each spring from an ever-growing list of contest organizers, but the RCC’s long-standing honors are highly competitive and are only given when the RCC’s veterans in media deem a work truly worthy of an honor like “The Award of Excellence” that will be presented to Brouwer at the RCC’s annual banquet on April 17, 2026.

Brad Pomerance spoke on behalf of the RCC board in announcing this year’s winners in categories ranging from newspaper articles to audio productions and documentary films. “The 2026 competition drew a record-breaking number of entries from across the United States and around the world,” he said. And, the caliber of submissions “was deeply encouraging—not only for their excellence, but for the way they illuminate faith and values in a complex world.”

This is the first book honored by RCC from Reformed Journal Books, which was co-founded by longtime writer and editor Jeffrey Munroe in 2023.

“No question, this is a big deal,” Jeff said this week. “It confirms the choices we’ve made in our first group of authors.”

“And, I’m honored that other professionals saw the value of what I’ve tried to tell readers in this book,” Brouwer said. “It’s very encouraging.”

Last year, Front Edge Publishing celebrated with Texas-based author George Mason when the RCC voted to present Mason with its special DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Award for Mason’s inspiring collection, The Word Made Fresh.
