We told you so: In the new book, ‘Sanctuary,’ we all can learn about Christian inclusion from the courageous folks in Iowa city

Last week’s ReadTheSpirit magazine cover story pointed out the value of this upcoming book—and it seems readers agree.
THIS WEEK, our publishing-house team is celebrating the Amazon bestseller rankings that popped up last week as this unique memoir of a church’s journey toward gender inclusion began appearing in online bookstores for pre-sale. The book’s national release date is October 8, 2024, a launch date chosen to coincide with the annual observance of the historic National Coming Out Day, first observed in 1988.
However, pre-sale copies of the book are available from the publishing house for journalists, reviewers and others who may want to pre-plan a group discussion this autumn. For more information, email us at [email protected]
If you missed it, last week’s ReadTheSpirit Cover Story was headlined: ‘Sanctuary’ debuts with a timely success story of a church in the American heartland where people dare to be inclusive
That story features an interview with the three co-authors, plus news about some of the book’s early endorsers and supporters.
We also made a special appeal to our readers, last week, asking for your support and encouragement. Here’s what we’re asking:
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS EFFORT! Please, visit the book’s Amazon page and order your copy in hardcover, paperback or Kindle. Or, consider ordering more than one copy so you can give copies to friends who will be inspired by this story. By pre-ordering a copy of this book—and perhaps buying additional copies for family and friends—you are helping with the national effort that currently involves tens of thousands of congregations where people now are moving toward inclusion.
Want to learn more about gender and orientation?
MSU’s Bias Busters team has the books for that!
In this column, MSU Bias Busters Director Joe Grimm explains why his team at the School of Journalism decided to publish two books—one about gender and a second one about sexual orientation.
As thousands of congregations nationwide move toward inclusion, these handy guidebooks answer common questions and help all of us navigate these new relationships in a cooperative and compassionate way.
