Our Editor David Crumm talks with author John E. Harnish about the global spirit of E. Stanley Jones
Our books make the world a better place.
That’s why our publishing house professionals wake up each morning and pursue their work with authors from many different religious traditions—as well as secular authors and teams from universities and major nonprofits. We publish with individual authors from a wide variety of backgrounds as well as schools, companies and community groups. Collectively, we believe that “good media builds healthy communities,” whether or not a particular book includes specifically religious content.
In early 2022, that approach is illustrated in our launch of 30 Days with America’s High School Coaches by Martin Davis—which certainly is uplifting and is full of helpful ideas but has no religious content—as well as 30 Days with E. Stanley Jones by John E. Harnish. That second title, within the same series of 30 Days books, shares true stories Harnish drew from the global outreach of the famous evangelist, E. Stanley Jones.
What do those two books have in common? Both books encourage resilience, community spirit and creative compassion. Overall, our pledge to readers is: When you buy one of our books and start reading, you can expect to be inspired, challenged and energized—and that’s true whether or not a particular faith tradition is part of a book’s text.
We are looking for the best storytellers, teachers and experts we can find—and both Jones and Harnish qualify on those terms.
Recently, our Editor David Crumm participated in a public dialogue with Harnish about how Jones’ own Christian faith led him to break down barriers separating people by culture, race and gender.
Here is that video (or you can go directly to YouTube to watch and share it with others). Note: The “livestream” notice refers to instructions for live participants when the conversation was recorded on February 27, 2022.
