Come meet us at Bluesky!

We’re playing with the possibilities of Bluesky’s new social media tools.
Come meet us on Bluesky!
The short version of this social media app’s history is that it once was an experiment from the old Twitter—then it became independent—and, in November 2024, Bluesky seems to be bursting with new members as a reaction to the ways Elon Musk has used his X this autumn. If you want a very detailed history, Wikipedia has a much, much longer version. (And if you really want to “geek out” on the tech side of Bluesky, we found this online analysis of the system that was recently posted by the Bluesky staff.)
As the founding Editor of Front Edge Publishing—and the main content supervisor of our ReadTheSpirit magazine—I jumped into Bluesky so that I can more easily connect with friends over there. Our marketing guru Susan Stitt also is part of Bluesky and she coordinates our Front Edge Publishing Bluesky and our ReadTheSpirit Bluesky hubs.
If you feel moved to join Bluesky, that previous paragraph has 4 ways you can connect with our community right now. In other words, follow me, Susan, FEP and RTSpirit—to see the various news items we’ll be posting. If you know our community of writers, then you know that you’ll be seeing fun and inspirational items. Our emphasis is on good news that helps to build healthier communities.

Right now we’re mainly playing with the possibilities. As “Front Edge” Publishing, we know that our writers and readers expect us to explore the cutting edges of media.
So, for this Front Edge column this week, I literally took “cutting edge” to heart—and I tried my best to add more content directly into Bluesky than the Twitter-like service actually intends.
In this Bluesky post, I experimented with providing more content. I used the main post and then a series of “comment” areas below it to explain how my wife and I, at this time each year, create a simple construction-paper “Advent Prayer Calendar” for our family.
It’s just a fun idea—and a window in our family traditions—that others might find inspiring this year. Lord knows! We all could use more prayerful positive wishes for our communities this year!
If you do visit Bluesky, connect with us via one of the four options above.
We look forward to seeing what you can add to this new online hub to make it feel more like a welcoming community.
