Celebrating Dr. Bob Cutillo’s New Release Bestseller rankings from Amazon

Our publishing house team works with all authors to maximize public awareness of their book launches. Part of that involves explaining to authors that their books should appear in Amazon’s listings for at least a month in a “pre-sale” period before the books’ national release dates. Dr. Bob Cutillo’s book will have been in pre-sale for a little more than a month by its official release date of November 4, 2025.
What’s so important about this pre-sale period?
It’s part of a well-established practice in publishing today: We want to launch books with a public sign of the enthusiastic endorsement of early readers who “click” to purchase books ahead of their official release dates. Amazon counts all of those “pre-sales” and, during the launch week, announces to the world those “categories” in which these “New Releases” have become bestsellers.
Why are these flags sometimes visible and sometimes not?
Over time, these Amazon “flags” appear on book pages, sometimes a book’s relative numerical ranking rises or falls—and sometimes they disappear as future waves of books are released by publishers around the world. One week ago, Dr. Cutillo’s Amazon rankings were No. 1 among new bestsellers in the thematic category: Death & Grief. At that time, the book was No. 2 in Hospice Care.
As of November 1, 2025, Dr. Cutillo’s flags were as displayed above on this page.
What we value as publishers is the obvious evidence of public interest in this new book. Quite simply, we now know that Dr. Cutillo’s book will be helping real people around the world as their first copies of Holding on in the Storm ship on November 4.
