A Presbyterian journalist who models a multi-faceted approach to embracing diverse communities
Thanks to PC-USA’s Mike Ferguson for recommending ‘Green Street’ as timely summer reading
By DAVID CRUMM
Editor of Front Edge Publishing and ReadTheSpirit magazine
I knew that Mike Ferguson—editor of the Presbyterian Church (USA) News Service—was a kindred spirit when I saw his recent Facebook post playfully recalling Captain Kangaroo. I grew up as a fan of the Captain’s “Treasure House” and his friends Mr. Green Jeans, Bunny Rabbit and the Dancing Bear.
Anyone who once loved to visit that delightful circle of TV friends is naturally a friend of mine.
And, then, seriously—if you’re looking for a new Facebook friend guaranteed to send you occasional good news and smiles, consider connecting with Mike on Facebook. I can affirm: His instincts for sharing bright little nuggets on Facebook have given me occasional smiles.
Plus, you’ve got to love a Presbyterian who welcomes visitors to Facebook with this little line: “I was predestined to do exactly what I’m doing.”

So, this week’s Front Edge Publishing column is simply a big “Thank You!” to Mike for understanding the value of Dave Larsen’s timely historical novel, Green Street in Black and White, published by our colleagues at Reformed Journal Books.
Mike’s headline about Dave’s novel says it all: Fiction can tell the truth as well as nonfiction can
