Front Edge Publishing Marketing Director
I am pleased today to introduce our Front Edge Publishing network of writers and readers to our newest author: Dr. Dora Dixie, a Chicago-based powerhouse of professional advocacy for the millions of Americans suffering from addiction and other forms of traumatic behavior that so many people experience within their families.
In coming months, you can read her remarkable story of overcoming years of trauma within her own family—a memoir called God Lives in Mississippi—but you don’t have to wait for that book to appear on Amazon. Right now, Dr. Dora is rolling out weekly video-podcasts. Recently, she also was invited to become the weekly medical host for a nationwide Black-owned satellite radio network. I’ll share more about her radio work in a later column, but today I want to introduce you to the many valuable, timely episodes Dr. Dora already has posted in her podcast series.

Let Dr. Dora welcome you—
“Hello! Welcome to Ask Dr. Dora,” Dr. Dora Dixie says warmly in the opening of her podcasts. “This podcast is my virtual medical ministry. I am Dr. Dora Dixie, board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine. On this podcast, I discuss all things related to addiction medicine, substance-use disorders and recovery. I also talk about the magnificent bodies we live in—and I will be giving you information for things you can do for optimal mental, physical and spiritual health.”
Use the convenient resources she provides—
When you click to visit her YouTube channel, you will find it organized with a rich array of resources to help you find topics that interest you right away.
For example, in “Breaking the Cycle”—Dr. Dora’s conversation with the 37-year-recovering alcoholic, writer and advocate Vicki Stein—Dr. Dora has supplemented the video (if you click on the “more” link in the episode’s description) with a list of topics they cover, plus convenient “time stamps” to jump right to those segments of their conversation.
Or, if you’re interested in “the pharmacology of marijuana,” a video that is labeled “Cannabis science EXPLAINED,” you’ll find a 6-minute overview by Dr. Dora about why “weed” today is far, far stronger than what was available in the 1960s and 1970s. Once again, clicking on the “more” link in the description pops up “timestamps” to the various topics Dr. Dora covers.
And, please, click the “subscribe” button—
I am writing this column because, this week, we also are celebrating Dr. Dora’s milestone of having reached 500 subscribers, so far. That number places Dr. Dora in the “Top 1%” of podcasters currently sharing episodes through YouTube.
As her new weekly satellite radio broadcasts bring greater awareness to her work in coming weeks, we know those numbers of subscribers will grow.
Quite simply, this is a good-hearted effort to help people. We’re honored to be a part of it as Dr. Dora’s publishing house. We hope you’ll be inspired to make a connection yourself.
As Dr. Dora herself puts it:
“The motivation in all that I do—the podcasts, the radio broadcasts and my memoir—is simply to continue helping people find healing. And that starts with letting people know that we accept them, that we love and care about them—and we can provide information that truly will help them.
“I may be retired from my daily practice as a doctor, now, but I can tell you through all of these ways of reaching people now—This doctor definitely is in. I am still in the trenches. People still need help. Pretty soon, my memoir finally will explain how much I had to overcome myself—and that is why I will not walk away from people who need help.”
